55.5 hectare now under permanent conservation
Enjoy the amazing mature and regenerating native bush which is secured by covenant now and for future generations.
We (Pam and Ray) are responsible for completing the fencing and planting plan under the resource consent. The conservation area is now fenced and surveyed. We have planted over 25,000 native trees in the past two years, protecting riparian margins (stream beds) and steeper hill country.
There are areas of quality native bush. One area, with a boundry to the Te Hana River, Kaipara Harbour is classified SNA (Significant Natural Asset) in the Rodney District Plan (Soon to become the Auckland City) and has mature Totara, Kauri, Karaka and a wide variety of other native species.
While all the essential (essential to resource consent) planting is complete, we will continue to plant in the conservation/ restoration areas year by year by planting a greater variety of native trees. New owners may enjoy being part of this but there is no obligation. New owners are protected by the consent, where by the covenant planting must be 'signed off' as meeting the standard required by the consent officer forthe Rodney District Council (or the designated officer in the new Auckland super city). This work must be undertaken by Ray and Pam
Amazing bird life abounds.
